How It Works

What Happens Every Wash Day

Four simple steps. Zero effort on your part.

Step 1: Load your laundry

Start your laundry like you always do. Gentle Cue sits on the machine and senses vibration while it runs.

Step 2: Get notified when the cycle is done

When the drum stops spinning, Gentle Cue detects the stillness and knows the cycle is done. It sends a push notification straight to your phone.

Step 3: Persistent reminders so you don't forget

That single notification might be enough for you. But if you're the type who swipes and forgets, you can configure Gentle Cue to keep sending reminders at intervals until you actually deal with it.

Step 4: Empty the washer and you're done

Open the washer and unload your laundry. Tap "Done" in the app and the reminders stop. Laundry unloaded, no mildew.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need a new washer?

No. Gentle Cue works with any existing washer — any brand, any age. Just stick it on the outside of the machine. No smart appliance required.

How does it know the cycle is done?

It uses a built-in vibration sensor. While the washer is running, the drum creates vibrations. When those vibrations stop, Gentle Cue knows the cycle has ended and sends you a notification.

Does it need to be plugged in?

No — Gentle Cue is fully battery-powered. Give it one initial charge out of the box, and the battery lasts weeks on a single charge. Recharging is simple via USB-C.

Will it spam me with notifications?

Only as much as you want it to. You can set it to notify you just once, or configure it to keep reminding you at whatever interval you choose — every few minutes, every half hour, whatever works for you. You're in full control.

What if I'm not near my phone?

The reminders will be waiting for you when you pick up your phone. If you've configured repeat notifications, they'll stack up so you won't miss them.

Can multiple people get alerts?

Yes — the app supports multiple users, so the whole household (or a remote caregiver) can be notified. Everyone stays in the loop.

How does it attach to the washer?

It uses included 3M adhesive strips — strong, secure, and leaves no residue if you ever remove it. No tools, no drilling, no fuss.

When will it be available?

Setup Guide

Setting Up Your Gentle Cue

Quick, simple, and done in about 10 minutes.

1. Charge Your Device

Plug Gentle Cue into any USB-C charger. This first charge wakes the device from its deep-sleep transport mode. Wait until the indicator shows fully charged.

2. Register Your Device

Scan the QR code on the device using the Gentle Cue app. This registers it to your account. The app walks you through creating one if needed.

3. Connect to Wi-Fi

Switch your phone to the device's temporary hotspot, then enter your home Wi-Fi details. Gentle Cue saves them and connects automatically.

4. Confirm & Attach

Once connected, stick Gentle Cue to the outside of your washing machine with the included 3M strips. You're ready to go!

The whole process takes about 10 minutes. If you get stuck, our step-by-step guide in the app will walk you through every screen — and our support team is always happy to help.
